Since a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 I'm loosing internet connection after a few minutes. I comes back after reboot or wakeup from standby. That seems to be a known issue with the Realtek RTL8188CE wireless driver. The same worked perfect with Ubuntu 12.04.
Realtek rtl8188ce wireless driver
1- first you have to download the driver from the official website for realtek rtl8188ce 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter.2: Start the driver installation file from a Windows account with administrative rights. If user access control (UAC) is enabled, you will need to accept the driver and perform the configuration with administrative rights.3- Go through the driver configuration wizard, which should be quite simple. The driver installation wizard will analyze the PC for compatible devices and install the driver.4-Restart your computer and enjoy the new driver, it's that simple.
I had a hard time installing the wireless driver for my debian. My debian was Sqeeze but soon after I realized Wheezy was the one to support my wireless adapter, realtek 8188CE,I upgraded to wheezy. Here is my sources.list file:
If the Intel wireless adapter you are using is listed below, please upgrade your driver to Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software version = 20.70.0 (or higher version) to resolve the connectivity issues in 802.11ax routers.
I have an older Toshiba Satellite C850 (PSCBWC-05600J) with windows 8.1 which I cannot get connected to my wireless router. The wireless adpater is Realtek RTL8188CE wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC. My router is not showing in the available networks, I don't even see it in 2.4G. I have updated the wireless driver and still nothing. I can see the neighbours wireless router (go figure). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
